My first Gingerbread House!

I have always wanted to decorate a gingerbread house, so this was the year!  This was not "a thing" when I was a kid, but boy, is it popular now!  I got a pre-assembled house, but unfortunately one side was all broken... so here is the good side!  It was really fun, and will now be a holiday tradition!

4th Grade Coil Pots at Tesago

4th graders have worked very hard to get these coil pots finished for the big holiday - what a wonderful gift for a family member or friend!  We started by looking at the possibilities of creating with coils, and then did some sketching to plan out ideas. After building, and firing once, we spent 2 classes glazing, and then the pots were fired again.  It is a lengthy process, but as I always say, good art takes time!

5th Grade Pagodas at Tesago

 This challenging project had students focusing on many concepts: symmetry, Asian architecture, foreground, middle ground, background, use of space, and color.  They worked very hard to get their work completed, and did a wonderful job! 

Emus Spotted at Tesago!

3rd graders had a great time creating visual texture in these emu portraits. We also focused on color mixing and blending using oil pastels.  They all have distinct personalities, and have made everyone smile at Tesago!

5th Gyotaku at Tesago

We could have used real fish to experiment with this fun Japanese printing process, but we opted for rubber fish instead.  Abstract background designs allowed the sea creatures to really pop!

3rd Grade Tesago artists experiment with...

 ...the wet-on-wet watercolor technique!   Wet paper and a wet brush produced beautifully blended background colors, and lots of ooohs and aahhhs!
