Art Show Photos!

If you missed the Art Show, here is some of the beautiful work that was on display from Tesago and Chango students.  Congratulations to all; I am very proud of you and all of your hard work!  More photos to come, if I can determine how to format them horizontally.  I was not born with the technology gene!

5th Grade African Masks

5th graders used symmetry, neutral colors, and elongated shapes to give their ceramic masks the look of having originated in Africa. They experimented with color mixing, and really enjoyed creating metallic colors with the addition of gold.

3rd Grade Color Wheel Creations

 After learning about Roy G. Biv, students created a color wheel, mixing the primary colors to create the secondaries.  Imagination then came in to play, as they were required to make their colors wheels part of a realistic drawing.  My 3rd graders have fantastic creative problem solving skills!

1st Grade Imagination Creations

This lesson always produces a lot of ooohhhhs and aahhhhhs!  Students began by mixing the secondary colors - the primaries were applied to the fold of the paper with a spoon, and then rubbed with the paper closed.  Voila!  A fun, symmetrical shape!  After the paintings were dry, students used their creative powers to transform their "blobs" into realistic images.  Bravo, 1st graders!

4th Grade Radial Symmetry Records

 This project is one of my favorites!  We begin with a discussion of technology, and how the way we listen to music has changed over time.  Most students are not familiar with records - they are just "black discs!"

Radial symmetry is introduced, and after looking at a number of nature and man made examples, students choose patterned paper on which to base their designs.  After sketching ideas, the drawing fun begins with colored pencils.

This project depends on donations, and the occasional garage sale score, so I will gladly take those old records off your hands!
